The Mond process is used for the:
  1. (A)Extraction of Mo
  2. (B)Extraction of Zn
  3. (C)Purification of Zr and Ti
  4. (D)Purification of Ni✓ Correct

Answer: (D)

Solution

The Mond process purifies nickel. Impure nickel is warmed with carbon monoxide at about to to form the volatile carbonyl, , which carries the nickel off as a gas, away from the impurities. Heating that vapour more strongly, to about to , reverses the step, , depositing pure nickel. So the Mond process is used for the purification of nickel.
