Match List - I (Fundamental Experiment) with List - II (its conclusion) and select the correct option from the choices given below the list:

Answer: A → II, B → I, C → III

Solution

Pair each landmark experiment with what it proved. The Franck-Hertz experiment, with its regularly spaced dips in collected current, showed that atoms absorb energy only in discrete amounts -- evidence for quantised energy levels. The photoelectric effect, where light ejects electrons only above a threshold frequency, exposed the particle (photon) nature of light. The Davisson-Germer experiment, producing electron diffraction maxima from a crystal, confirmed the wave nature of the electron. So Franck-Hertz goes with discrete atomic energy levels, the photoelectric experiment with the particle nature of light, and Davisson-Germer with the wave nature of the electron.
