When an unpolarized light of intensity

Solution

A polarizing sheet passes half of incident unpolarized light, so the transmitted part is

\frac{I _{0}}{2}

. The part that is not transmitted is the remainder,

I_{0} - \frac{I _{0}}{2} = \frac{I _{0}}{2}
