Given below two statements :

Statement I : is divisible by 7.
Statement II : The integral part of is an odd number.

In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below :
  1. (A)Both Statement I and Statement II are false.
  2. (B)Both Statement I and Statement II are true.✓ Correct
  3. (C)Statement I is false but Statement II is true.
  4. (D)Statement I is true but Statement II is false.

Answer: (B)

Solution

For Statement I, group the terms: is divisible by and is divisible by , since is divisible by for odd . As , the whole sum is divisible by , so Statement I is true.

For Statement II, since , write with , and let . In the irrational parts cancel, leaving an even integer. Thus is an even integer, and since it follows that . Then is even, so is odd, and Statement II is true.

Both Statement I and Statement II are true.
