Given below are two statements:

Statement I: Pressure in a reservoir of water is same at all points at the same level of water.
Statement II : The pressure applied to enclosed water is transmitted in all directions equally.
In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below :
  1. (A)Statement I is false but Statement II is true
  2. (B)Both Statement I and Statement II are true✓ Correct
  3. (C)Statement I is true but Statement II is false
  4. (D)Both Statement I and Statement II are false

Answer: (B)

Solution

Statement I is true: within a connected body of static liquid the pressure is the same at every point on a given horizontal level, since depends only on depth. Statement II is also true: it states Pascal's law, that pressure applied to an enclosed fluid is transmitted undiminished in every direction. Both statements are true.
