Why should electrostatic field be zero inside a conductor?
Solution
A conductor has free electrons. As long as any electric field exists inside, these free charges experience a force and drift. They go on redistributing on the surface until the field they produce exactly cancels the external field everywhere inside. In the resulting static state the net electric field inside the conductor is zero.
