Draw energy band diagram of a p-type semiconductor.

Solution

In a p-type semiconductor the trivalent acceptor atoms introduce vacant acceptor energy levels lying a little above the top of the valence band (within the forbidden gap).
At room temperature electrons from the valence band are easily excited into these acceptor levels, leaving holes in the valence band as the majority carriers.
