How does the width of depletion region of a p-n junction vary if the reverse bias applied to it increases?

Answer: The width of the depletion region increases.

Solution

Under reverse bias the external field aids the junction barrier field.
More majority carriers are swept back from the junction, exposing additional immobile ions, so the depletion layer grows.
