Which of the following compounds are not used as disinfectants?

Solution

Chloroxylenol, bithionol and terpineol all act as antiseptics and disinfectants, bithionol being added to medicated soaps and terpineol used as a disinfectant. Veronal is a barbiturate used as a sedative, and prontosil is a sulpha drug acting as an antibacterial; neither is employed as a disinfectant. The compounds not used as disinfectants are veronal and prontosil.
