A meter bridge setup is shown in the figure. It is used to determine an unknown resistance R using a given resistor of 15Ω. The galvanometer (G) shows null deflection when tapping key is at 43 cm mark from end A. If the end correction for end A is 2 cm, then the determined value of R will be ______ Ω.
Answer: 19
Solution
Using the balanced Wheatstone bridge condition with end correction: 43+215=102−45R. Here, the effective length from A is 43+2=45 cm, and from the other end is 100−43=57 cm. So 4515=57R, giving R=4515×57=45855=19Ω.
