The maximum number of angles between bond pair of electrons is observed in
  1. (A) hybridization
  2. (B) hybridization✓ Correct
  3. (C) hybridization
  4. (D) hybridization

Answer: (B)

Solution

Count the angles between bond pairs that each geometry forces. An octahedron, produced by hybridisation, sets its six bonds along three mutually perpendicular axes and so carries the greatest number of angles. The trigonal bipyramidal and shapes and the square planar shape all offer fewer, so gives the maximum number of such right angles.
