A conductivity cell with two electrodes (dark side) are half filled with infinitely dilute aqueous solution of a weak electrolyte. If volume is doubled by adding more water at constant temperature, the molar conductivity of the cell will -
  1. (A)increase sharply
  2. (B)remain same or can not be measured accurately✓ Correct
  3. (C)decrease sharply
  4. (D)depend upon type of electrolyte

Answer: (B)

Solution

The solution is already infinitely dilute, so the molar conductivity is at its limiting value . Adding more water causes no further change in the molar conductivity (and the extremely low conductivity makes an accurate measurement impossible). Hence it remains the same / cannot be measured accurately.
