Solution

At steady state no current flows into the capacitor branch, so the entire circuit current flows around the loop formed by the

10 Ω

and

15 Ω

resistors in series with the

5

V battery.

i = \frac{V}{R _{10} + R _{15}} = \frac{5}{10 + 15} = 0.2 A

The capacitor is connected across the

10 Ω

resistor, so the voltage across it equals the drop across that resistor:

V_{C} = i \times 10 = 0.2 \times 10 = 2 V

The charge stored on the capacitor is

Q = C V_{C} = 8 μ F \times 2 V = 16 μ C
