Solution

At constant volume the pressure is proportional to the absolute temperature,

\frac{P _{f}}{P _{i}} = \frac{T _{f}}{T _{i}}

. The initial state is

T_{i} = 5 0^{\circ} C = 323

K with

P_{i} = 3.23

kPa, and heating to double the temperature,

10 0^{\circ} C

, gives

T_{f} = 373

K. Then

P_{f} = 3.23 \times \frac{373}{323} = 3.73

kPa. The modified pressure is

3730 Pa
